You need to choose the right amount of accessories. You can use something as simple as a new scarf or belt to breathe life into a tired old outfit. Choose accessories to match the outfit, not an outfit to match your accessories.
Jewelry
Make sure that jewelry compliments your skin tone and use it to highlight your best features. The jewelries should also be appropriate for the occasion – avoid oversized earrings, do not drape yourself with diamonds if you are going to a children’s party. Make sure that your necklaces compliment your build and outfit and your ring should fit properly. Wear earrings that flatter your face shape. Avoid long dangling earrings if you have a long face. Your face will appear longer because of the long lines of the earrings. Try the jewelries in front of a mirror before purchasing them. If possible, wear the outfit which you plan to pair it with. An inexpensive jewelry can be just as stunning as an expensive pearl or diamond.

Shoes are a great accessory and can really make a difference to the look of an outfit. Leopard prints and shoes with designs may be difficult to fit into a wardrobe and are usually a passing trend. Wear them with an outfit that picks up one of the colors in the shoes and keep other accessories to a minimum.

Belts. Just like with scarves, if you are wearing a solid colored outfit, a patterned belt can really bring the colors out. Remember that you can always turn an old scarf into a new belt. If you are thin enough, you can even wear a cute necktie as a belt with jeans. Before you purchase accessories know how you will wear them and what outfit they’ll go with.

Eyeglasses are also accessories. Limit the accessories around your face to two if you will wear eyeglasses. Use sunglasses if the party is along the beach or if it is a pool party.

Use your signature style to camouflage flaws or to draw attention to your best features. Avoid crossing the fine line between expressing your signature style and becoming pretentious. A signature look can be something as sentimental as a charm bracelet or as breezy as brightly-colored pantyhose-just make sure it feels like you and fits your personality.
1. Asses your current style; decide if you are traditional, modern, fashion-forward, casual, natural, etc.
2. Determine what you want to accomplish with your signature style-to be more memorable, develop an always-chic look or have more fun with fashion?
3. Study famous trendsetters. Don’t hesitate to imitate a look and make it your own, but make sure it fits into your personality.
4. Decide what you would be most comfortable changing – your hair, wardrobe colors or accessories.
5. Try a new hairstyle or color in stages to see how it works.
6. Start with a shirt, tie or scarf color in choosing a bold new color to see how well it works for you.
7. Accessories such as sunglasses, big pins, bright hosiery or vintage handbags are a safe, easy and inexpensive way to start a personalized look.
8. Experiment and alter your signature style pieces as you grow more confident.
9. Once you get into your signature look, be sure to change your supporting wardrobe frequently enough so that you don’t look the same everyday.
